The Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) is seeking an experienced and strategic professional to serve as Director of Maritime Affairs, reporting directly to the President & CEO. CSA represents U.S.-based companies that own, operate, or charter vessels trading to, from, and within the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent CSA and its members before U.S. Executive and Legislative branches, including hearings and working groups.
  • Engage with international maritime bodies such as the International Maritime Organization, BIMCO, and the International Chamber of Shipping.
  • Monitor and analyze domestic and international regulatory and legislative developments affecting the shipping industry.
  • Provide customized regulatory compliance guidance to CSA members.
  • Develop and deliver educational and informational programming for key stakeholders.
  • Manage and maintain the CSA website and CRM platform.
  • Coordinate CSA’s annual awards programs and assist in planning CSA board and policy meetings.

 Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marine transportation, marine engineering, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS, JD) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Extensive background in technical and regulatory issues within the commercial shipping industry.
    • Demonstrated experience with U.S. maritime legislation and international maritime regulations.
    • Direct experience in HSQE leadership or equivalent in a maritime operating environment.
    • Sailing experience and/or is preferred.
